“From the Sky”
At dawn, I found a star in the pocket of my jacket. Its edges were slightly sharp, and it was warm. I pressed down my pocket tightly with my hand, so nobody could see how the star was glowing.
“Hi,” it said, “I'm a star. Who are you?”
“I'm Mishka,” I answered simply, “How did you get here?”
“I fell... from the sky... You'll let me go, right?” the star asked.
“Yes,” I replied, “In the afternoon!”
At dusk, I put the star in my palm, brought it to the open window, and it flew into the sky.
The next day, I found the same star in my pocket.
“Hi,” I said, “Did you accidentally fall again?”
“No,” the star replied, “I fell on purpose. Will you release me again in the afternoon?”
“Of course,” I answered, “I will.”
