Ты, наверное, любишь сладкое?
И обезьяны, и первые люди тоже искали в лесу сладкую еду: ягоды, фрукты, мед.
Ведь сладкое – скорее всего, съедобное!
А вот кислый вкус может означать, что плод не поспел.
Горький вкус может означать, что плод ядовитый.
Считается, что существует четыре вкуса: сладкий, кислый, горький и соленый.
Но есть еще и пятый. Его открыли сто лет назад.
Он называется японским словом «умами».
Это вкус обещает человеку сытную пищу.
Вкус «умами» есть у мяса, грибов и грецких орехов.
А соевый соус придает этот вкус любой еде.

You like sweet food don’t you?
Monkeys and early men also looked for some sweet food in the forest: berries, fruit and honey.
After all, sweet things are usually edible!
But sour taste may mean that the fruit is not ripe enough yet.
Bitter taste may mean that the fruit is poisonous.
It is thought there are four flavours: sweet, sour, bitter and salty.
But there's also a fifth and it was discovered one hundred years ago.
Its name is a Japanese word "umami". This taste is promising rich nutritious food.
"Umami" is the taste of meat, mushrooms and walnuts.
Soy sauce gives this taste to any kind of food.
