"Is It Easy To Be A King?"

“I’m tired of this!” yelled the king one morning. “Problems, questions, and I have to solve them, solve them. And whilst I am doing this, I must think about what mark I will leave in history. Whoever wants to rule, can rule!”
A line of those wishing to rule immediately formed from the throne room to the city gates.
The minister, who didn’t have enough time to get into the line, now stared perplexedly at the king.
“Should I chase them away?”
“Leyt! Give everyone a chance to rule!”
“Only two minutes!” announced the minister.
The line burst into chaos.
“First one’s up!”
The first person had barely sat down when he was showered with questions about borders, neighbors, and ambassadors.
“What will we do?
“What? Where?”
“Ehh…”
“You time is up! Next!”
“But I haven’t left a mark in history yet.”
“That’s your own fault! You must follow the form!”
The monarchs replaced each other in a disciplined manner.
“In line, in line!”
Some only got to sit on the throne.
Some got to set a seal to a document, while others got to receive ambassadors.
“Accept the ambassadors who are bringing gifts.”
“I want the turn with presents! I do!” shouts sounded from the line.
The ambassadors talked for a while, and five people had already had a chance on the throne.
And, finally, the main voice spoke:
“Let us present you with this modest gift.”
But while they were extracting the present…
“Your time is up!” yelled the minister, “the gift is no longer for you. Leave, don't hold the line up!”
“Not fair! I waited patiently through an excessively long speech!”
“Rules are rules!”
The following person, who got the present, was overjoyed. But to his dismay, when he opened the gift, a puma leapt out.
“It’s quite a rare animal, by the way.”
“Why would I need a puma?!”
“And what do you think, that it is easy to rule? Take the puma and leave!”
They took the puma.
But the ambassadors rebelled anyway, claiming that this vain behavior upset them, issued a note of protest and left.
Tanned and rested, the king returned the very next evening.
“Can’t leave the kingdom for even a day!”
“This is a troublesome business, and a thankless one,” said the people, “how does or king cope?!”
And only one person remained satisfied. On his turn, he received the king’s afternoon snack. He had never before tasted such delicious straws with cream.
