Ladybugs

“Molly, what’s your favorite animal?”
“Ladybugs are my favorite animals, of course. Can’t you tell?”
Anyone could take one look at Molly and they’d know that her favorite animals were ladybugs. There were twelve ladybugs on her swimsuit. Molly went to the ocean with her mother and father, and she was excited to teach the ladybugs on her swimsuit how to swim. At first, the ladybugs were a little bit afraid, but then all twelve of them learned to swim. And in a week, they loved swimming so much, it was almost impossible to get them out of the water, and it was the same with Molly.
But soon, the time came to leave the ocean and go home. As Molly was packing her clothing to put in her suitcase, she realized something - the ladybugs from her swimsuit were missing! All twelve of them were nowhere to be found! The swimsuit they had been on was still there, but the ladybugs were just gone.
“Oh, no,” said Molly’s mother, “I guess something must have went wrong when I was washing it.”
But Molly didn’t think that was what had happened, and she had another idea as to why her ladybugs were missing. That’s why she didn’t even cry.
Molly and her parents were waiting in the airport for the flight for a long time, because their airplane was running late. Molly pressed her nose against the glass windowpane at their airport, and saw exactly why their airplane was late. She saw what looked like a blurry red line flying around the pilot’s window on the airplane, which must have been making it hard for the pilot to land. As the airplane came closer and became more clear in Molly’s view, she saw that the red line was made out of her twelve ladybugs. She opened the zipper of her suitcase and the ladybugs flew right in through the window, which was open just wide enough for the ladybugs, and into Molly’s suitcase.
When Molly and her parents came home, she wasn’t surprised to see that all twelve ladybugs had come back to their places on her swimsuit. The ladybugs told Molly what she had been suspecting all along - they had loved swimming so much that they wanted to swim in the ocean one last time before they went home.
“Okay,” said Molly, “I get it. We’re going to need a membership to the swimming pool.”
