Once upon a time there were Senya and Danya…
In an enormous city, in a new house, in an apartment on the very top floor there lived a small boy, Senya. Senya’s house looked over sand dunes. It was very beautiful. And over the hills there was sea.
Besides Senya there lived his mother, his father and his cat in the apartment. More precisely it was not a cat but a pussy cat. The pussy cat’s name was Push. He appeared at Senya place recently- straight on the day of the housewarming. Push was running around the still empty rooms, was smelling air, corners- and after that Senya’s mom began to unpack things and organize dishes.
And Senya played with the pussy cat and enjoyed the house moving.
But after that Senya felt sad. In the new house he didn’t know anyone. There were not many people who lived in the building. From the window of Senya’s bedroom Senya could see a construction site. There was a crane. The crane turned, moved hooks and cables- it was building another house. By evening it got tired and froze up still.
And here Senya saw a star. It was actually very tiny star. It settled comfortably on the arrow of the crane. It was shining brightly.
Senya covered his eyes a little bit and the star winked. Was it for him? Or not for him?
Senya thought “what if it will grant my wish? Let a boy just like me come to the new house that is being built by crane! Then we will meet together and become friends. He will become my best friend!”
Then the star winked again and disappeared.
“What a pitty!” Senya sighed
And in a different place in an old-old house on the bottom floor there lived a small boy Danya. Right behind the house was a wasteland. There was a garbage dump on the wasteland.
Danya lived with his mom. And he had a dog with the name Dik. Dik and Danya often played together. Danya did not have anyone else to play with. There were no more kids in the old house next to the garbage dump. All the kids moved out a long time ago. But Danya and his mom stayed. They did not have enough money for the move.
What if the father could come back! His father went to work. Far far away.
Danya saw an old tree from the window of his small room. It was a pine-tree. It grew here before the garbage dump appeared. And even before the house was built. And one day a big star sat on the branch of the pine-tree.
This star seemed gigantic. It made itself comfortable on the long green needles and shined in the darkness.
Danya closed his eyes and the big star winked at him.
Danya thought “ This is such star…I make a wish…I want my dad to come back. And I want to live in a new house. And let me have a friend”.
The big star winked one more time and then disappeared.
“ Well…” Danya sighed.
…In the morning he was woken up by excited voices.
-Danya! Your father has come!
-Son! You are so heavy!- his father hugged Danya and tried to lift a bit. – Is everything all right? How is Dik? Happy? I have found a different job!- And the father laughed.- We are moving soon. We will live in the big city in a new tall house. We will look out of the window at sand dunes. And behind the sand dunes, Danya,- there will be sea!
Danya clang to his father and squinted very hard. And after that
Opened his eyes and looked out the window fast. It was morning ad it was light. But the star was sitting on a pine-tree branch again…
